Here are a few photos from a Tryst on Cherokee, and cute pop-up during the month of February on Cherokee Street in St. Louis! I was excited to share some of my illustrations and books during this event.
I recently had the pleasure of creating the illustrations for Little Bird Meets Anne Marie, the second book in this series by by Loni Hoots! This sweet children's poem features the adventures of a little red bird and his new squirrel friend. It is now available on Amazon.
I wanted to share a couple of photos from the past two art exhibits at Pieces: The St. Louis Board Game Bar! They hosted a fun dog-themed art exhibit through the month of September, and are now hosting a cat-themed art exhibit this month. You can find a few of my illustrations for sale, along with some other beautiful artwork! Proceeds from the art sales benefit Tenth Life Cat Rescue.
Check out Pieces for a huge selection of board games you can play while you drink and eat. I highly recommend their yummy vegetarian options, including the rice bowls and cookies.
I had fun creating some new miniature comics for the River Des Press Expo this month. These tiny comic books measure about 4.25 by 5.5", and feature three silly stories. I originally created The Terrified Pterodactyl comic back in 2011, and I decided to print a few more copies this year. The Amethyst Ant and The Evil Weevil are two new stories. Each of these miniature comics was hand-bound, and there are limited copies available in my shop!
*The Amethyst Ant*
This little ant story follows a curious ant who discovers an amethyst. When the amethyst disappears, his friends must help him rescue it!
*The Terrified Pterodactyl*
The narrative of this little dinosaur book follows a frightened pterodactyl who has just hatched and finds himself alone in the world. When he learns to fly, he at first enjoys his new activity. However, he soon learns that he is frightened of some of the new things he discovers!
*The Evil Weevil*
This silly little comic follows a sly weevil and his destructive journey throughout a tree. When the weevil wakes for the day, the other animals better watch out!
Earlier this year, I had the pleasure of working with one of my best friends to design her wedding invitations! She decided to use lavender and purple themes throughout her wedding celebration, so we wanted to incorporate that in the invitations and reply cards as well. I painted the floral illustrations in watercolor, and also included some hand-lettered accents. Photographs are by talented local photographer Britt, from BLK Photography.
Thank you to everyone who attended The Sleep Catcher Book Release & Signing at the Novel Neighbor in Webster Groves! We were blown away by your support.
The Sleep Catcher is a captivating wordless tale about a young girl's quest to fall asleep. The book takes place in St. Louis and has pictures of many landmarks from our city. The Sleep Catcher story was created by Za Goodbrake, and illustrated by Melissa Rohr. It can now be purchased on The Inky Octopus and Amazon.
I'm an illustrator with an affinity for octopi. I love using watercolor and ink, and really enjoy working with the book form. View some of my story books, coloring books, and critter illustrations in my shop. Also, visit my Facebook page & Instagram feed.
