Earlier this year, I had the pleasure of working with one of my best friends to design her wedding invitations! She decided to use lavender and purple themes throughout her wedding celebration, so we wanted to incorporate that in the invitations and reply cards as well. I painted the floral illustrations in watercolor, and also included some hand-lettered accents. Photographs are by talented local photographer Britt, from BLK Photography.

I enjoyed working on this playing card project recently, and the cards have now been printed! I created the face card illustrations (King, Queen, Jack, Joker) for the Whose Deal playing card deck, and had the pleasure of working with graphic designer Elizabeth Salinas on this project. Find out more about these unique playing cards, or see more photos of the project in my portfolio.

Art direction & typography: Elizabeth Salinas. Illustration: Melissa Rohr I've been working on a rough layout for my future portfolio. I decided to make a small landscape book to see the possibilities of the layout, and to help me decide which pieces to include. For the finished portfolio, I'd like to make the binding from wood, and possibly wood-burn a design into the cover. I've gotten some great feedback on it so far, and subsequently have many ideas on how to improve it. I also might create some mini-bound books, much like this first draft, to use as leave-behinds or self-promo pieces. What do you think?
